I started Godly Traditions to help parents raise up their kids in righteousness
As a Mom of four, I struggled to know the best way to help my kids. My tiggers, habits, and mental health made simple moments feel overwhelming. I was trying to do all the right things but I had no idea if I was really moving in the right direction.
I had been raised with a very strict and harsh idea of who God was. The scriptures talked about a loving and kind Heavenly Father but there are also a lot of scriptures that talk about the harsh condemnation of God and I did not understand how those two pieces fit together.
I wanted to be able to follow Christ's example but did that mean I had to punish or be kind? I hated the punishments I received as a child and it left me feeling unable to be close to either of my parents. I knew I didn't want to continue that cycle and I couldn't see a loving God wanting me to continue that cycle either!
If the answer was follow his mercy and kindness, did that mean I just let my kids do whatever they wanted all the time? That didn't seem like the answer either!
I knew the future of my family depended on me figuring out...
* What a loving relationship with God really looked like
* What "following Christ's example" really looked like
* How to raise my kids without forcing them into the "right" choices
It was hard to make sense of the differing scriptures, to see what God expected of me as a parent but this journey changed me forever.
Trying to understand what kind of discipline makes God proud has enabled me to build the kind of home I have always dreamed of!
My husband and I now enjoy deep loving relationships with our kids. Our home is filled with peace and we feel capable and excited to face the future.
Better understanding God's words has helped us clearly see how to raise our kids with strong and healthy relationships. We now have the tools to discipline in a way that enables our kids to face their lives with joy and confidence.
If you want to develop these same gifts in your family and be able to pass this gift down for generations then you need to learn how to grow your spiritual gifts.
I have learned through my own experience that journaling is one of the fastest ways of recognizing, receiving, and growing our spiritual gifts. But if you are like me journaling can also keep you feeling aimless and stuck. That is why I have created journals specific to growing your individual spiritual gifts.
